Exterior Design

The overall design of the MG ONE pursues a high degree of tension in the dynamic movement of life, and uses a superb design language to make the whole vehicle display intelligence in an outgoing manner. The wider and flatter body proportions and downward-pressing roof attitude of the MG ONE, compared to similar models, set it apart from the traditional stereotype of a chunky and robust SUV. The whole vehicle looks more premium, dynamic and youthful. The split-colour roof design makes the visual effect of the whole vehicle move forward along with the centre of gravity, enhancing the sense of diving. The curved surface is compact, the shape is simple and complete, creating a sense of rich depth. The upright lines accentuate the compact and powerful volume. The lateral potential energy line is quickly pulled back in the form, which is full of resilience, vividly depicting the hunting posture, reflecting the solid and calm high-end dynamic quality.

MG ONE adopts a ‘one body, two faces’ design approach, and targets the different needs of young people to create two design styles: the ‘Digital Intelligence Sports Series’ and the ‘Technology and Fashion Series’.

The high-energy, three-dimensional, quantum-flashing MG ONE-α of the Digital Intelligence Sports Series has a sharp, three-dimensional front design, with all the lines and surfaces visually pointing towards the grille, emphasising the three-dimensional feel of the grille in the front theme. The theme of ‘quantum flashing’ inside the grille gradually parametrises the MG logo, and the radiating pattern focuses the visual centre of the entire front face on the three-dimensional grille. The tungsten steel plating material creates a sharp contrast in the sunlight, bringing a unique reflective texture.

The shark-hunting front end of the MG ONE-β, the ‘Techno-Fashion Series’ with its sonic boom grille, follows an aggressive and sporty tone of voice. The shark-hunting front end is further sublimated, and the boundary of the contrasting colour grille is broken. The parametric gradient elements give the grille a dynamic effect that radiates outwards from the MG logo like sound waves. From different angles, it presents a different sense of three-dimensional depth, with a strong visual impact. The grille frame is integrated independently, with an open and customizable character that provides more possibilities for users to personalize the decor.

In addition, MG ONE also shows a very unrestrained design in terms of body colour themes. MG ONE has created a brand new series of colours that match the tastes of young trendsetters, including the matte-finish Wilderness Hunter, the vibrant Bubble Orange, the alluring Brighton Blue, and the sci-fi Cyber Grey. Not only that, MG ONE also retains traditional classic colours such as Pearl Black, Pearl White, and Flame Red, providing users with more options for personalisation.

Interior design

The MG ONE is equipped with the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8155 flagship chip, which is made using the industry’s top 7nm manufacturing technology and has three times the performance of the previous generation. The chip uses a fourth-generation 8-core CPU for extremely high processing efficiency; a new-generation graphics processor with 10 times the processing power of the previous generation; and a new artificial intelligence chip that enables efficient natural speech processing, edge computing and machine learning. There is also fourth-generation low-power memory technology, which speeds up and optimises memory again and supports multiple types of applications being opened and used simultaneously.

In addition to the most powerful chip, MG ONE is also equipped with a 30-inch wraparound triple screen that can accurately convey driving and vehicle information to the driver. Not only that, the wraparound triple screen can also isolate interfering factors, allowing the driver to focus more on driving itself in a world of its own, leading users into the era of scenario-based interaction, giving users a sci-fi, immersive experience.

The interior design of the MG ONE enhances its sporty attributes by making the internal structure as compact as possible and lowering the height of the instrument panel to make the view more transparent. The entire instrument panel inherits the wing-shaped styling elements of the MG5 and is reinterpreted in a new way, visually light and sturdy; the collision of large areas of soft materials, high-gloss black, INS trim panels, and gloss black chrome brings a sense of rhythm to the visual layering and enhances the sense of refinement of the interior. The new car also uses a combination of materials, light and shadow, and angles to hide the air vents in the instrument panel and complement them with a slender ambient light on the passenger’s side.
The all-new racing steering wheel from MG, fitted to the MG ONE, breaks with convention, tightening the visual tension in the vertical direction. The grip naturally forms a fold, matching the angular styling of the cabin. Its extreme hollowed-out design, combined with TPO hand-off monitoring, allows the driver to drive as they wish; the flattened MG logo and button design in the centre emphasise the extreme sportiness of the all-new racing steering wheel.

The MG ONE features a new MG integrated sports seat. The strong three-dimensional shape and enveloping feel of the seat provide excellent dynamic support during intense driving.

Power and Range

The MG ONE is equipped with the MEGA Tech 1.5T Pro high-power engine, one of the top ten engines in China. It has a maximum power of 181 horsepower, a maximum torque of 285 N·m, and can accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in 8.1 seconds. Its powerful and explosive performance satisfies young consumers’ demand for speed. The new car engine uses 350 bar high-pressure direct injection, which atomises the fuel more fully and greatly improves efficiency, making it an economical choice for fuel vehicles. The engine also uses a high-flow turbocharger from Honeywell, a high-flow liquid cooling system, a reinforced cylinder block/head and other original high-performance enhancement kits to provide more powerful explosive power while effectively reducing the combustion chamber temperature and improving durability.

The CVT325 continuously variable automatic transmission uses Bosch’s latest generation of medium-to-high torque steel belts and an innovative fully electronically controlled dual-mode single-double pump system that combines high efficiency with reliability. By systematically optimising internal resistance, the overall efficiency of the CVT325 has reached an internationally advanced level and excellent fuel economy. The CVT325 has undergone extreme tests such as 5 million+ kilometres of vehicle and bench durability, temperatures ranging from the polar regions to high altitudes in both summer and winter, and has achieved a perfect balance of drivability, power and economy under the premise of reliability.

The German-style sporty chassis with the new SIGMA architecture design, combined with the XDS cornering dynamic control system and Continental tires, allows the vehicle to easily handle all kinds of road conditions, be stable as a rock at high speeds, and handle poorly paved roads with ease, providing an outstanding driving experience. It is worth mentioning that the MG ONE has a braking distance of only 35.15 meters from 100 kilometers per hour, and its powerful braking ability provides further safety for driving control.
