On Friday, Honda Motor Co. officially opened its first dedicated new energy vehicle factory in Wuhan, Hubei province, China, to ramp up EV production amid a plan to make all new cars sold in China electric by 2035.
Dongfeng Honda, a joint venture between the Japanese automaker and Chinese state-owned Dongfeng Motor Corp, will operate Honda Motor Co.. The facility will invest about 4 billion yuan ($566 million) have an annual production capacity of about 120,000 vehicles and employ about 800 people. It is scheduled to start producing the Lingxi L electric vehicle, which went on sale in late September.
