Exterior Design

The new EC6 is 4849mm in length, 1995mm in width, 1697mm in height, and has a wheelbase of 2915mm. the new car adopts a coupe-like slinky shape, outlining a more tense body curve. the optimized A-pillar inclination angle and lower body height bring a smooth and stretching roof streamline, and with the dual-mode active lifting tail, the wind resistance is as low as 0.24 Cd. the curved surfaces of the rear section are full and the bulging wide shoulders blend with the narrowing rear windshield to form a strong sense of contrast. 23° sports anti-shear angle design reduces the visual thickness of the rear, making the rear more sporty. Based on the family design language of “Design for AD”, the new EC6 innovates again by adopting the split structure Double Dash daytime running lights for the first time. The split design strengthens the tension of the curved surface of the front end and creates a strong dynamic force, while the 3D exposed design and the 30mm ultra-wide thick-walled crystals bring the ultimate translucent visual experience. Meanwhile, the new car eliminates the black border along the upper edge of the lights through process innovation, leading a new design trend.

The new EC6 is equipped with a dual-mode active lifting rear wing with a length of 1,353mm and a width of 196mm, with a windward force area of 0.254m2, optimizing wind resistance by up to 10%. The rear wing adopts a two-stage opening design for drag reduction and extreme speed, and provides both automatic and manual modes. When the vehicle speed is higher than 80km/h, the rear wing will open to the drag reduction gear, the opening angle is 23°, the wind resistance is reduced to a minimum of 0.24Cd; when the vehicle speed rises to 170km/h, the rear wing will open to the extreme speed gear, the opening angle reaches 31.5°, in the extreme speed condition of 200km/h, it can provide a maximum additional 580N of the vehicle’s downforce, which can enhance the confidence of the handling and the stability of the whole vehicle.

Interior Design

The new cabin continues NIO’s “Second Living Room” concept, with a wrap-around design that creates a warm interior atmosphere. Four interior theme colors are available, including Danxia Red, Morning Lake Blue and Thin Vine Purple. In terms of interior details, the hidden intelligent air vents, soft light trim in the same color, delicate micro-motion buttons, and the integration of renewable barnwood materials and acoustic fabric materials under the door panels create a more concise, more refined, and more layered interior atmosphere. The car’s 59 sound insulation optimizations bring the new EC6 a high level of NVH performance.

The panoramic canopy of the new EC6 has an overall area of 1.770 square meters and a lighting area of 1.156 square meters, with 4.96mm double-layer acoustic and thermal insulation glass, and optional EC light-sensitive canopy glass. Applying the third-generation flexible electrochromic technology, the EC light-sensitive canopy glass has a light transmittance rate of 6% and a total energy isolation rate of 85% in the bright state, a light transmittance rate of 1% and a total energy isolation rate of 86.3% in the dark state, and an ultraviolet isolation rate of 99.9%.

Derived from NIO’s high-end seat platform, the new EC6’s one-piece sports seat design can fully fit the physiological curve of the human spine, taking into account the wraparound nature of intense driving and the comfort of family travel, and with the S-Shape native cockpit layout, it brings a more relaxed and spacious feeling. The main driver’s seat supports 16-way electric adjustment, the passenger’s seat supports 18-way electric adjustment, and the backrest angle of the rear seat supports 8° electric adjustment fore and aft. The second-generation queen passenger seat can realize a maximum backrest tilt angle of 172°, and provides one-key enjoyment and one-key reclining modes, bringing a true double 120° zero gravity experience. The front seats are equipped with heating, ventilation and 8-point acupressure massage function, the ventilation adopts the wind suction mode with better body feeling, and the 8-point acupressure massage is in place with rich modes. The steering wheel of the new car is also equipped with heating function. A full range of comfort functions, so that drivers can always feel pleasure and cozy.

Space

By fully tapping the space potential, the new EC6 has excellent interior space. There are a total of 22 storage spaces in the car, providing 7 hooks, which can hang up to 30kg of heavy objects in total. The trunk has a capacity of 594L and provides multiple hidden storage spaces with a capacity of 89L. The second row of seats supports 4/2/4 folding, and the maximum trunk capacity extends to 1,402L when the seat backs are folded down as a whole.

Power Performance

High performance has always been in NIO’s DNA. The new EC6 comes standard with a dual-motor intelligent four-wheel drive system, combining a front 150kW induction motor and a rear 210kW permanent magnet motor, for a total power of 360kW and a torque of 700N-m, with acceleration of 100km under half-load conditions in just 4.4s. The new NIO front wheels are equipped with NIO high-performance aluminum alloy four-piston calipers and large-size brake discs with a diameter of 355mm, with a minimum braking distance of 34.5 meters (21-inch wheels) and a braking distance of 1,000km (1.5 miles). The shortest braking distance is 34.5 meters (21-inch wheels).

The body of the new EC6 is made of aluminum alloy and high-strength steel-aluminum hybrid architecture, balancing performance and weight. The all-aluminum rear floor and C/D pillars, which are built using a one-piece die-casting process, provide excellent safety performance, fully protect the battery and occupant safety, and at the same time greatly reduce the number of parts and lower material weight. Nearly 50:50 front and rear axle load ratios and a super low center of gravity of 580mm are conducive to obtaining better neutral steering characteristics, improving handling performance and speed limits when cornering.

The new car is equipped with front and rear five-link suspension, self-developed ICC Intelligent Chassis Domain Controller and CDC Dynamic Suspension Damping Control, realizing a comprehensive improvement in driving control performance. Through personalized adjustments, the new EC6 offers the most chassis play in the industry, with 270 custom driving modes and 9 preset driving modes, and the exclusive Sport+ mode provides unique steering feel and damper settings, making the driving experience even more extreme; the new car is equipped with the ISS Intelligent Comfort Brake System as standard, which automatically adjusts braking force at the end of the braking process, significantly suppressing the “nodding” phenomenon caused by braking.
